When you’re in the chaos of wedding planning, adding another sort of planning can sometimes feel like just another chore. However when it comes to your bridal makeup, this is a type of planning that should get you excited because it’s going to prepare you to look absolutely perfect on your big day! Now, I’m not speaking of how to prepare your skin for the big day or what you should do leading up to it. If you would like to see a post on this, go here -> The Ultimate Skin Prep Guide for Your Big Day
This type of planning involves figuring out how you want to look, setting real expectations for yourself and your artist, and deciding on the best colors and styles that fit you! Social media has been a godsend and a curse within the wedding industry for varying reasons. I speak of why Instagram makeup is not considered bridal makeup in the post here. So, what is the perfect bridal makeup? What is involved in the perfect look that you will look at and always love yourself for choosing? That’s what I’m here to tell you!
Flaunt your favorite features!
We all have our favorite parts about ourselves, and on the best day of our lives, we should be able to flaunt them to the ends of the world! In terms of makeup, make sure your artist knows what you like most about yourself. If you really love your eye color, they can use shadows to make sure your eyes really pop. if you love your lips, they can use a product that really makes them stand out.
Research colors and styles that you like most.
When it comes to colors, we want to work with the theme of your wedding as well as the colors that will make you stand out most. While I don’t like to stand by the rule of focus on one feature, it really does make a difference in bridal makeup. If you are going to have soft and natural eyeshadows, go with a deeper lip. If you want bold and dramatic colors for the eyes, stick with a nude for the lip.
Social media has made it incredibly easy to look up bridal makeup. Just remember, on your big day, you want to accentuate your natural beauty by bringing it a little more life. You don’t want to overdo it with a face of full coverage, caked on foundation, bold eyes and lips, and lashes up to the sky. Which leads us to the last point…
Be true to yourself!
Makeup is such a fun way of expression, and it can really do wonders in emphasizing what features we love and creating new looks to show off. On your wedding day, you want to look timeless. You want to look beautiful and absolutely perfect. Don’t forget though, you still want to look like you. It’s important to consider if you don’t wear a lot of makeup normally, some of it may look like a lot. You don’t have to go all out with tons of makeup and lashes and the works. If you want a toned-down, natural look, your artist simply needs to know that and can provide you with just that. Whatever look you decide on, remember to be true to yourself and what you want!
I always advise on a makeup trial before the big day. It’s incredibly important for you to meet with your artist, talk about your preferred styles, and really be sure that what look they do for you is what you want. The trial is the perfect place to try a couple different things and see what looks and works best for you. It’s also an incredibly exciting way to really get even more pumped up for your actual wedding day!
