Pat McGrath, a name among the top cosmetic creators in the industry, has released a new mascara with marketing to make eyes your new fetish! FetishEyes has quite the hype built up behind it, and I’m sure there will be quite the following behind this mascara no matter what.
The packaging and sleek design of the product came as no surprise since a number of the products come in a sealed bag rather than a box. The tube is as black as the mascara itself, and the brush is actually my favorite part of the whole product. It’s a pretty simple brush, but it’s so fluffy! Thick bristles are my absolute favorite when it comes to mascara, and this one has just that. The formula is jet black, and it coats pretty well with each stroke. This mascara is supposed to build bold, dramatic lashes full of volume and length. So far, there are four reviews on the Pat McGrath site for the mascara, all of which claim that this product is amazing. Sephora shows 59 reviews currently, and it’s at a 4.4 out of 5 stars with 88% recommending it.
Now, I have been using the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara since its release. I love Better Than Sex, but I will admit I am waiting for something even better. I really wanted to love FetishEyes. I have heard so many amazing things about Pat McGrath’s line, and I love the marketing that they use. This formula is really similar to the Better Than Sex formula, but I’m just not impressed. When I applied this mascara, it made my lashes look spider-y and thin. It definitely lengthened my lashes, but the effect from 3 coats was nowhere near the effect that Better Than Sex has on my lashes with just one coat. I don’t feel like the before and after pictures really do any justice to either mascara, but here it goes…
Pat McGrath FetishEyes
Too Faced Better Than Sex
Some may not really be able to see much of a difference. This is without crazy amounts of editing. These aren’t professional images by any means. I used the same typical method of applying, no primers, no liners, and no curling my lashes even. I showed my boyfriend, and he even picked the Too Faced one above the Pat McGrath version.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure with some maneuvering the lashes and working to really fluff it up, you can get a good coat and a good look with the mascara. I just was not particularly fond of it for myself.
